Not every home has a 240-volt connection (especially in older or historic homes), and likewise you may need to run a new 240-volt line to where you wish to install your charger. Finally, these systems are the more expensive option, both to purchase and to have installed. However, if you have a fully-electric vehicle, the benefits more than likely dramatically outweigh the cost.
